When collecting action figures, the condition of the toy can make a huge difference for it's value. If your figure collection is piling up too much at home, then you can utilize storage units for your collecting needs. Instead of crowding closets or attics in your home, a storage unit provides plenty of space for you to neatly organize your figure collection. The following four tips can help you fully organize your figure collection and ensure that it stays in top condition.

Carded Figures

When storing figures still in the packaging, you want to protect the packaging as much as the figure. When using a storage unit, you have plenty of space to spread the figures out. This means that you do not need to stack the figures. Stacking figures in the case can cause damage to the casing. Layer the figures on the side so there is no pressure placed against the outer casing.

Loose Figures

Collecting loose figures can still be a valuable hobby as long as you properly take care of them. Instead of keeping them completely loose and free, you should consider purchasing action figure display cases. These cases can hold the figures and support them without putting pressure on the plastic parts and points of articulation. To help prevent loose parts, keep the figures in a cool area and do not overcrowd them.

Storage Unit Light

A majority of storage units have the benefit of no natural light. Exposing figures to sunlight can cause discoloration and decrease the value. If your storage unit happens to have windows, then they should be covered up with black curtains to prevent any light from coming in.

When you visit the unit, you should use lamps and other lights instead of letting the natural sunlight come in through the large storage door.

Wall Hooks

If you like to view your figures on a regular basis, then you can find an easier way to store them in a storage unit. A collection of wall hooks allows you to display each individual figure and view it on the wall. When purchasing hooks, you should look for plastic hooks that can support the weight of the figure. You also want hooks that can be attached to a wall and removed without causing damage.

Using wall hooks is also ideal if you actively sell or trade your action figures. Instead of digging through boxes or storage cases, the figures are easy to access, take pictures of, and present to potential buyers.
